Civic and national education is an important element of values education advocated by the Education Bureau (EDB). We aspire to cultivate students’ positive values and attitudes, enabling them to acquire a comprehensive understanding and concern for personal, family, social, national and international issues, recognize and actualize their civic rights and responsibilities, and render service to the community, to the nation, and to the world.
Thanks to our Civic and National Education Committee (hereafter as the Committee), along with its subordinate student service teams namely Civic Education Ambassadors and the Community Youth Club, as well as the unceasing support of different subject panels, committees and stakeholders, we have been able to achieve the aforementioned goals and objectives through the organization of various activities for our students and garnered fruitful harvests in territory-wide competitions including EDB Basic Law competitions, various service awards of the Community Chest Flag Day—Street Flag Sale and Gold Flag Sale, as well as the Most Active School Award of Hok Yau Club Top Ten News Election for years.
Apart from formulating school-based curriculum and programmes, the Committee closely collaborates with subject panels, functional groups, the Students’ Union and the Parent-teacher Association to introduce civic and national education via joint-party programmes, interdisciplinary curricula and other learning experiences. We also take the initiative to seek assistance from government bodies and community organizations.
We believe that our students, as caring and responsible citizens, would be great assets to the community and the nation.
