School Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of the new academic year was held, which included the National Flag raising ceremony, speeches by the Principal and Vice-principals, and the singing of the school song. Principal Chan Nga Lai first introduced the new teachers to all students, then briefed on the academic and other learning experiences of students in the last school year, and thanked all stakeholders of the school for their support. Principal Chan also introduced the school's proposed concerns for the new school year and referred to the experience of Jiang Minhui, the gold medallist of the women's epee at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to encourage all students to set goals for the school year, work hard and work together to achieve excellence. Subsequently, Vice-Principal Ho Lai Ping, Vice-Principal Ely Li and Vice-Principal Leung Wing Yee respectively explained the various measures and targets to be implemented by the school in line with the school's concerns in this school year. After the opening ceremony, class teachers and deputy class teachers jointly presided over class affairs and reminded students of the items that require attention in the new school year.

"29th Teacher Commendation Scheme"
Voted by teachers and parents of the school, Ms. Wong Wing Man and Ms. Tsang Chi were elected to participate in the "29th Teacher Commendation Scheme" organised by the Committee on Respect Our Teachers Campaign. On the same day, Ms. Tsang attended the "Salute to Teachers 2024 - Teachers' Day and Commendation Certificate Presentation Ceremony" and were presented with the Commendation Certificate, in recognition of their enthusiasm for teaching and outstanding performance.

"Creative Painting Project for Lampposts along Shing Mun Riverside"
Our Visual Arts students Li Mau Lam and Wong Chun Hei from Class 5B, Guo Tsz Ho, Chan Yan Ying, Huang Tin Cheuk and Zhang Hei Cheung from Class 6A, Lam Yan Yan, Lau Tsz Man and Ng Erin from Class 6B and Ho Sin Yi from Class 6C participated in the "Creative Painting Project for Lampposts along Shing Mun Riverside" co-organised by the Sha Tin District Youth Community Building Committee, the Sha Tin District Youth Network and the Sha Tin District Office. On the same day, Ms. Chin Wung Ying was invited to lead student representatives to attend the unveiling ceremony held at the Sha Tin Park Observation Deck, in addition to receiving the commemorative certificate, students also participated in the unveiling and lighting ceremony of the lamppost painting.
"Flower Tea Tasting" activity
During morning assembly, the Counselling and Guidance Committee organised a "Flower Tea Tasting" activity for Form 6 students to relax and relieve their stress while preparing for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination next year. Ms. Wong Mei Yin, our social worker, first led the Form 6 students to conduct a mindfulness activity to relax and reduce the pressure of studying. Afterwards, the Peer Counselling Ambassadors presented two kinds of flower teas to the Form 6 students, namely the Rose Jasmine tea and Osmanthus Oolong tea. The fragrant floral tea not only promotes relaxation, but also elevates the mood and brings warmth. Ms. Wong also cheered for the Form 6 students, encouraged them to face challenges bravely, and reminded them that teachers are always there to provide support and care.

Celebration of Teachers' Day during Life Education Session
Celebration of Teachers' Day was held during Life Education session. First, Principal Chan Nga Lai delivered a speech to thank teachers for their tireless teaching, caring and nurturing students. Then, Ms. Li Man Yu, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, Mr. Lui Pui Yiu, the Chairman of the Alumni Association, and student representatives expressed gratitude to all teachers for their effort. Candidate cabinet of the Student Union "Egretta" also thanked teachers for their contributions with video clips of student interviews. Afterwards, representatives of the current Student Union presented gifts to Principal Chan and all teachers. Gifts were prepared by the Student Union, Parent-Teacher Association and Alumni Association to show their respect and carry forward the spirit of "Respect for Teachers", a crucial element of the school's Student Code of Conduct.

"Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China: Art Show"
Our school's Dance Club was invited to perform at the Art Show organised by the Education Bureau, in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. The show was held at Tsuen Wan Town Hall and Principal Chan was invited to be the one of the guests. Highlights of the event will be broadcast on RTHK TV 31 at 8 p.m. on the 6th and 13th of October.

Life Education Session
During the Life Education Session, Form 1 to Form 6 students participated in the Oath-taking Ceremony of the Prefect Team, Library Services Team, Backstage Support Team and Campus TV Production Team. Students also took part in the Student Council Executive Cabinet Candidates Q&A Session, aiming to enhance students' understanding of various student organizations as well as to increase their sense of belonging to the school.

"New Territories East Foot Drill, Team Call, Happy Umbrella, Flag Raising Competition Chu Chun Ho Cup 2024"
Our school's Scout, Chiu Yat Ting from Class 4D, Li Kwan Lam from Class 5C and Lee Mo Sun from Class 6B participated in the "New Territories East Foot Drill, Team Call, Happy Umbrella, Flag Raising Competition Chu Chun Ho Cup 2024" organized by the Scout Association of Hong Kong New Territories East Region and our school won the Champion of the competition in foot drill for nine consecutive years.

"Financial Education School Award Scheme (2023/24)"
Our students participated in the "Financial Education School Award Scheme (2023/24)" organised by the Education Bureau. After selection, the submitted financial activity report won the "Level 1: Financial Education School Participation Award" and "Level 2: Financial Education School Initiative Award", our school was one of the top 5 schools in Hong Kong with the highest rating. Participating students were invited to attend the "Financial Education School Award Scheme (2023/24) Award Presentation Ceremony & Winning School Sharing" held on the 2nd of December.

"The 33rd Student Council Executive Board Election"
The 33rd Student Council Executive Board Election was held to enhance students' sense of citizenship. The cabinet candidate in this academic year was "Egretta". Students from all forms participated in the election with a voting rate of 40%. After the vote, Vice Principal Ho Lai Ping, Vice Principal Lee Ely, Vice Principal Leung Wing Yee and teacher representatives monitored the vote-counting. The cabinet candidate was elected with 199 (69%) votes.

Life Education Session
During the Life Education Session, Form 1 to Form 5 students participated in the Oath-taking Ceremony of the Peer Counselling Ambassadors, Civic Education Ambassadors and School Ambassadors, as well as the Annual Report and Oath-taking ceremony of the Student Union and the Four Houses, aiming to enhance students' sense of belonging to the school and their sense of personal responsibility.

 
Form 6 Life Planning Workshop
The Career Guidance Committee of our school organised a life planning workshop for Form 6 students, tutors from the Hong Kong Life Planning Association were invited to help students prepare for their Student Learning Profile. Through interactive sessions and completing worksheets, students were motivated to reflect on their personal development throughout their years in secondary school.

ˇu16th National Day Gold Cup Open Competition of Traditional Martial Arts / Tai Chi Weaponsˇv
Our students participated in the "16th National Day Gold Cup Open Competition of Traditional Martial Arts / Tai Chi Weapons" organized by the Hong Kong Southern and Northern Martial Arts Association and won 7 gold awards, 1 silver award, and 1 bronze award, as well as the overall highest score gold cup and the overall highest score Dragon King Cup, totalling 11 awards.
